GANG EXCHANGE

Mission:

Gang Exchange is a gang prevention & intervention program in Colorado Springs, Colorado that provides services designed to assist gang members in giving up their negative lifestyle and exchanging it for a positive and more productive one while also educating at-risk youth about the dangers of gang involvement.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

• This program is a minimum 4 month 4 level program designed for gang intervention using a curriculum called “P.U.R.P.O.S.E ” to help the youth/young adult find purpose in life and decide to give up gang involvement

• Each Enrollee is assigned a Mentor that will walk with them through the program and monitor their rehabilitation, commitment, communication, and provide guidance to him.

• An enrollee is required to turn in all gang affiliated clothing, items and totally separate themselves from those who are still gang members or doing similar activities. 

• The program will assist the enrollee with anger management, cover conflict resolution , drug and alcohol abuse, making right choices, and the realities of prison life

• The program works on a points system and each enrollee has to earn a number of points for each phase and evaluated on 7 areas of compliance which they must complete four or more of to pass

• During the program an enrollee will have to commit to weekly check ups and Check ins, weekly meetings, and other activities to complete each level.

• At the completion of the program the graduate will be awarded a certificate. Gang Exchange graduates may also be eligible for gang tattoo removal.

PROGRAM GOAL:

Our goal is to inspire and instill within the youth a desire to fulfill their potential in life with a sense of dignity, honor, respect, purpose and destiny. Through partnering with parents, ex-gang members, mentors, community - based organizations of mutual purpose, Police Departments and probation officers we will accomplish the goal before us.
